🚨 Texas Senate Bill 1868 Update: Kratom Ban Moves to the House

As of April 25, 2025, Senate Bill 1868 (SB 1868) has officially passed the Texas Senate and is now heading to the House of Representatives for further consideration. This bill, if signed into law, would effectively ban the sale and possession of kratom across the state of Texas—stripping away access to a natural alternative that many Texans rely on for managing pain, anxiety, and opioid dependency.

What SB 1868 Means for Texans

If passed, SB 1868 would criminalize responsible adult use of kratom, a botanical that has been legally available and widely used for years. This bill does not just affect businesses—it affects veterans, chronic pain patients, working families, and everyday people who have turned to kratom as a safer alternative to addictive pharmaceuticals.

The Dangers of This Bill

  • Loss of Safe Access: Texans will be forced to seek relief elsewhere—potentially from opioids or dangerous street drugs.

  • A Rise in the Black Market: Prohibition won’t eliminate kratom—it will drive it underground, where safety and quality disappear.

  • Punishment for the Responsible: Rather than targeting abuse, this bill punishes responsible adults and small businesses trying to do the right thing.

What Happens Next?

Now that SB 1868 is moving to the House, the fight is not over—but it is more urgent than ever. The House can stop this bill, but only if enough people speak up.
